evenSteven has been a puppet a poet a pirate a pauper but never a pawn or a king. Hailing originally from the Ottawa Valley in the hinterlands of Canada’s own Middle East, he graduated from Mount Allison in New Brunswick in the spring of 1995 with an Honours degree in History and English. The following summer he climbed onto his motorcycle and followed the advice of untold sages: Go west, young man.
Since then he has worked and played all over British Columbia. Along the way he managed to collect a BFA in Creative Writing from the University of Victoria in 2001. Not content with the thousands of dollars of student debt already accumulated, he re-enrolled in the Faculty of Education and graduated a second time from U Vic as a high school English teacher. Since then he’s taught every grade from Kindergarten to senior secondary, from northern BC to Montreal Nord. In the last decade he has made his living by teaching, landscaping, tree-planting, horse and carriage driving and exercising racehorses. His passions have taken him from the West Coast to Montreal and back again, with occasional detours south through the American heartland and on into Mexico.
All along, from childhood to the great beyond, evenSteven has been writing and telling stories. Now firmly established in Vancouver, he looks forward to entertaining you soon!
